The Siemens SPECT/CT system installed in late 2013 at Clinatec has been fully operational since May 2015, following a permitting and compliance process that lasted more than a year. The system combines a CT scanner and gamma camera for simultaneous anatomical and functional imaging. The system will be used for Clinatec’s research on targeted delivery of radiolabeled cancer drugs.

The system is exactly like the ones that can be found on several oncology floors of the Grenoble University Medical Center. And it is held to the same standards, especially in terms of collecting and treating the radioactive liquid waste from patient procedures in radioactive decay tanks. The tanks were received in late May, allowing Clinatec to begin using the system.
