Summer research internships at Upenn

Every year, MINATEC—in association with the International Relations Department at the Grenoble Institute of Technology-Phelma engineering school—gives around ten second-year Phelma students the chance to perform research at UPenn’s groundbreaking Nano/Bio Interface Center

Participants—selected based on an application and interview—spend ten weeks (from May to August) studying and conducting research at the Nano/Bio interface Centerat the University of Pennsylvania.

Their work typically falls into one of five key areas:

  • Nanomaterials for biotech applications
  • Nanotubes
  • Microfluid systems
  • MEMS
  • Nanocharacterization

Participants also get to take part in numerous extracurricular activities, such as social and cultural outings (like to museums and arts festivals), networking events with UPenn and other exchange students, and weekly talks on science- or technology-related topics

IRES was introduced in 2010 in association with Professor Dawn Bonnell, Director of the Nano/Bio Interface Center, and with the support of MINATEC-GIANT, the National Science Foundation, and the Rhône-Alpes Region through Explora Sup scholarships under the Rhône-Alpes Pennsylvania agreement.
