The company employs 300 people at sites in California and India and boasts a 200-strong R&D team. Some 170 businesses around the globe—including 18 of the top 20 semiconductor and consumer electronics companies —use Atrenta software.

Atrenta is focusing advanced development in two important growth applications: reducing IC energy consumption and evaluating architecture alternatives for 3D integrated circuits before the detailed implementation phase.

In early 2011 Atrenta chose MINATEC as the site for its first European R&D center, in partnership with Léti. The center will focus on two key issues: reducing IC electrical consumption at the design phase and exploring physical prototype development techniques for stacked chips very early on in the development cycle. The joint R&D center currently employs six researchers, but expects to expand this team to 20 within the next few years.

Atrenta’s site in Grenoble will also enable the company to participate in other joint R&D projects with major customers like STMicroelectronics and ST Ericsson.
