21 March 21, 2009: Kickoff of the 5th annual Rencontres-i forum
The Biennale Arts-Sciences fair was sponsored by more than 20 public and private partners and provided a forum for creative dialogue between artists, scientists, businesses, and citizens. Some 10,000 people participated in the previous edition of the event. This latest edition will feature two “acts.” The first, “Essaimer,” (grow) will take place in March 2009, and the second, “Partager,” (share) in October 2009.
March 20, 2009: Third annual MINATEC IDEAs Laboratory® IDEAs Day
Some 275 researchers, designers, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, and students attended this event to discuss innovation and economic models for smart objects and ambient electronics.
2009: Final MINATEC PhD dissertations in human and social sciences, economics, and management
December 2008: Renault and Bouygues SA join MINATEC IDEAs Laboratory®
Renault, Bouygues Telecom, Bouygues Immobilier, Bouygues Construction, Colas, Alsthom, and TF1 have signed on for three years to work side-by-side with the CEA, EDF, and others at the MINATEC innovation platform to explore energy and mobility.

2008-2009: L’Atelier Arts-Sciences hosts artist-in-residence
Members of music group EZ3KIEL and Léti researchers developed a MEMS-sensor-equipped ball that, when thrown by the audience at a concert, generates music and images.
October 2008: Agreement signed with GEM; showroom inaugurated
The foyer of Grenoble Ecole de Management now features a showroom where MINATEC researchers’ latest advances in smart objects are on display. GEM and MINATEC also signed an agreement expanding their partnership to include GEM student access to MINATEC and the participation of MINATEC scientists in the GEM innovation competition selection jury.
