MINATEC Crossroads 2008 attracts 1,000 participants

MINATEC Crossroads is a key event for the world’s leading micro and nanotechnologies researchers and manufacturers. The 2008 edition of the meeting, which featured a series of lectures, was held on June 23–27 in Grenoble.




 


Caltech nanosystems alliance launched

Léti formed an alliance with Caltech to create complex functional nanosystems suitable for mass production.


Phelma, a new engineering school founded

As part of the Grenoble INP restructuring plan, three of the institution’s schools (ENSEEG, ENSERG, and ENSPG) merged to form Phelma, which is located on the MINATEC campus. Currently 1,240 students are enrolled in the new school’s programs.


Nano 2012 program approved

The Nano 2012 program will see €2.3 billion in investment and will earn Grenoble-Crolles a slot among the world’s top three micro and nanotechnologies clusters. The program involves several MINATEC laboratories working with STMicroelectronics.


Movea raises €7.3 million 

Start-up Movea, whose offices are located on the MINATEC campus, raised €7.3 million in investments for its motion sensing technologies. The company counted 17 employees at the end of 2008.


Michel Bruel earns recognition for invention

Léti researcher Michel Bruel received the prestigious Cledo Brunetti award in San Francisco in December. Bruel invented Smart Cut™ technology, which is today used around the globe for 95% of all SOI wafer production.
