Research:

The Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies Center will get an additional 2,200 square meters of space; a 10,000 square meter international engineering center will house activities including integrated photonics, optical storage, and new light sources; the 2,000 square meter Solhyvert building will be home to innovative transportation assessment activities.

Pilot production:

The new LabFab—a pilot R&D photovoltaic cell production line—will be built. The line will boast a capacity of 25 MWp/year. Its purpose will be to produce cells with high conversion yields (22%) from low-cost metallurgical silicon.

Industrial transfer:

The High Tech Building, which is currently dedicated to high-tech biotechnologies companies, will get an additional 8,000 square meters. The B2I Building will expand by 5,000 square meters earmarked for research partnerships with SME/SMIs.

Education:

Phelma will get an additional 7,800 square meters of space including a 500-seat amphitheater. In addition, a new 12,000 square meter “project hall” will house new higher-education programs and provide office space for the local branches of leading national and international institutes of higher learning.
