MINATEC is located in the world-class economic and scientific environment offered by Grenoble-Isère, in the heart of France’s Rhône-Alpes region, the country’s second-largest economy in terms of its contribution to GDP (10%). The Greater Grenoble area is home to 61,000 students, 21,000 researchers and a primarily white-collar workforce made up of 26% engineers and upper-level managers.

The local economy is built around three major technology pillars: information and communication technologies, biotechnologies, and new energy technologies.
Global industry leaders like STMicroelectronics, Schneider Electric, Caterpillar, and Hewlett-Packard have offices and plants in and around Grenoble. The STMicroelectronics campus just outside of Grenoble in Crolles is France’s largest industrial complex by investment.

Grenoble-Isère concentrates in a relatively small geographical area an exceptional pool of talent and know-how, with more than 38,000 jobs in information and communication technologies within a 30-kilometer radius.
