Quantum and non-linear optics in nitride microcavities

During this thesis, the student will study by optical spectroscopy (photoluminescence) AlN optical microcavities (microdisks and photonic crystals) containing ultraviolet emitters (GaN quantum wells and dots). The general goal of the thesis work is to evidence quantum optics effects such as the microlaser regime or the strong coupling in nitride microcavities emitting in the ultraviolet.

The Transparent Conducting Oxides (TCO) play a critical role in the fabrication of many current and emerging optoelectronic devices. Solution-processed inorganic thin films have been intensively developed, for example, to fabricate TCO thin films. The advantages of this elaboration process are simplicity, large-scale process, and cost-effectiveness. Custom-made morphologies obtained by sol-gel techniques are extremely important for this field.


Quantum magnetism in low dimensional systems
