PX’Therapeutics anticipates a buoyant 2010
PX’Therapeutics SA is getting ready for a great tenth anniversary. The company reported promising results for its Phase I clinical trials of therapeutic proteins in 2009 (innocuity testing on healthy volunteers), and has also recently won several new contracts in Europe, North America, and Asia.
PX’Therapeutics will open a second biomanufacturing facility in May. This 250 square-meter facility will be devoted entirely to producing therapeutic proteins and monoclonal antibodies in mammalian cells. It will be located on the MINATEC campus, behind the High Tech Building. This custom-designed, €1.5 million facility will boast state-of-the-art equipment, including a 200-liter bioreactor and FPLC chromatography systems capable of producing 100-gram batches of therapeutic proteins. PX’Therapeutics ultimately plans to move its current Lyon- and Grenoble-based staff to a single location near the NanoBio campus. All of these projects will support the company’s overall growth strategy. PX’Therapeutics hopes to double its protein development capacity and staff—and triple the size of its facilities and revenue—by 2013. PX’Therapeutics’ expansion is a sign that biotechnologies are one of the rising stars of the GIANT project, and a pillar of life and health science activities in the Lyon and Grenoble areas.
