Soitec sets its sights on solar concentrators

Léti and Soitec have been working together for years. Their latest endeavor is an ambitious R&D program to substantially improve solar cell conversion yields for concentrators. Soitec recently acquired Concentrix Solar, a Germany-based start-up specializing in solar concentrators. The high-yield solar cells developed by the new program could significantly boost Concentrix Solar’s competitive advantage. The new-generation cells will be made from III-V materials, and will be developed jointly by Soitec, Léti, and Fraunhofer ISE, an institute whose work on solar concentrators is recognized worldwide. The research in Grenoble will be carried out at Léti’s facilities.
