MINATEC’s Franco-American Summer Conference
This two-day event, sponsored by the US Consulate in Lyon and the scientific advisor to the French ambassador in Washington, aims to lay the groundwork for a Franco-American micro and nanotechnology network spanning research and industry.
The Conference includes:
- Talks by renowned speakers like Dr. Philippe Nozieres, winner of the 1985 Wolf Prize in Physics, member of the US National Academy of Sciences since 1991, and currently performing research in Grenoble
- Poster sessions of students’ research – Tours of Grenoble’s state-of-the-art research facilities like the MINATEC campus, European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, and Institut Laue-Langevin
- Fun evening events for more informal networking
Nearly 100 people attended the first Conference in 2012, including 45 students, 15 university professors, and 18 researchers. Some of the US participants were already studying in France under the Châteaubriand Fellowship; others came to the country from some 13 American universities including Louisiana State University, University of Pennsylvania , California State University, and MIT.
