GIANT International Internship Programme (GIIP)

The GIANT International Internship Programme (formerly the MINATEC Summer Program) has been expanded to all research labs on the GIANT campus.

The GIIP is a unique experience for international students (from outside of Europe and from partner universities). Admissions are based on the applicant’s profile and interest in research. Students accepted into the program can complete a ten to twelve week research internship at GIANT campus labs. During their internships, students can use world-renowned scientific instruments at the ESRF, ILL, and other high-caliber research facilities. There is also a full program of educational and cultural activities during students’ stay in Grenoble :

  • Weekly science lectures followed by a shared meal,
  • Tours of the main GIANT campus facilities (ESRF, EMBL, the MINATEC showroom, Institut Néel),
  • Social and outdoor activities like wine-tasting classes and rock-climbing excursions.

Since the program’s inception in 2011, 250 international students have completed internships at GIANT labs in Grenoble.

A call for internship topic proposals is issued every year during the fourth quarter. If you are interested in GIIP and you would like to submit an internship topic and host a student intern, contact the organizing committee by email: internships@giant-grenoble.org You can also learn more online at: http://www.internships.giant-grenoble.org/
